A behind-the-scenes exhibition on the making of the Portuguese Pavilion

Expanded Practice

The exhibition Creole Garden – Process offers a unique insight into the conception and development of the exhibition project Greenhouse, the Portuguese representation at the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, curated by Mónica de Miranda, Vânia Gala, and Sónia Vaz Borges.

Presented in Porto during the same period as the Venice Biennale, this satellite exhibition brings together previously unseen materials related to the creative and production process of the exhibition project. These include study models, sketches, technical drawings, photographs, and videos produced by the various collaborators involved. Together, these materials serve as a starting point for reflecting on the collaborative nature of the project – between curatorial practice, artistic creation, exhibition design, landscape design, and production methods – highlighting the importance of interdisciplinarity within the fields of art and architecture.

This satellite exhibition was coordinated by Paulo Moreira and presented works by Alex Kirschstein, ArtWorks, Clínica Botânica, Desisto, Dumbo Design Studio, Hangar, Ivo Tavares, Mónica de Miranda Studio, paulo moreira architectures, and Paulo Palma. It took place at INSTITUTO, in Porto, from 3 to 31 October 2024. The exhibition design team comprised Paulo Moreira, Sara Pinheiro, Nuno Silva, and İmran Satış.
