In a context of growing distrust toward the democratic models that shape contemporary societies, “The Nation Room – Embassy of No Land” proposes the embassy of an imaginary nation, detached from any specific time or territory. Conceived as an interactive installation, the project brings together a series of archetypal elements associated with political representation, while functioning as a space for receptions, performances, debates, and public events.

The project was made possible through the involvement of civil associations, NGOs, and underrepresented groups working in the fields of political activism, citizenship, and social inclusion in Lisbon and its surroundings. Within this framework, The Nation Room offered these organisations a shared platform to amplify their voices and engage wider publics.

The Nation Room – Embassy of No Land is a project by Paulo Moreira in collaboration with Kiluanji Kia Henda. It was presented as part of The Real and Other Fictions, curated by Mariana Pestana for Close, Closer, the third edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, with Beatrice Galilee as chief curator
